Version Numbering

On Key's version number is a three-part number, which consists of the following:

  • [Year].[Release].[Patch]

The meaning of the different elements in the version number is as follows:

  • Year – this is the year that On Key is released in.
  • Release – this is an incrementing number that never resets. This number only increases when a release that contains new features is rolled-out.
  • Patch – this number increments for the same release but resets to zero when incrementing the release. This number therefore only increases when a release that contains only bug fixes is rolled-out.

The table below illustrates and explains the version numbers for different release dates:

Date Version Number Description
December 2020 2020.1.0 This is the initial release.
January 2021 2021.1.1 This is a patch release that only contains bug fixes, so both the year and the patch increase.
March 2021 2021.2.0 This release contains new features. The patch resets to zero because the release increases.
April 2021 2021.2.1 This is a patch release that only contains bug fixes, so the patch increases.
May 2021 2021.2.2 This is a patch release that only contains bug fixes, so the patch increases.
September 2021 2021.3.0 This release contains new features. The patch resets to zero because the release increases.
January 2022 2022.4.0 This release contains new features, so both the year and the release increases.
