Employers are charged with certain functions and responsibilities in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act, 29 of 1996 (MHSA). These acts assume that employers are often unable to perform the functions due to several variables and must therefore appoint persons to act on behalf of the organisation. This module looks at appointment structures and more specifically the legal responsibilities surrounding the 2.6.2 and 2.9.2 appointments in terms of their actions and inactions.
