The intention of the Defect Elimination (DE) Project is for learners to practise and apply many of the theoretical learnings taught throughout the SEO AM programme. In addition, the value derived from projects should yield a positive return on investment and be implemented. This is therefore not a desktop exercise, but a fully-fledged improvement project.
During the project, progress will be tracked and reported back to the SEO AM Training Steercom.

The DE project has seven main phases:

  1. Allocation and briefing: The learner and relevant stakeholders will be briefed on this process before the projects start.
  2. Project selection: The learner, with their supervisor, identifies a suitable project that will reinforce the learning of the AM training and add value to the site.
  3. Business case development: The learner, with the support of the coach and supervisor, develops a business case for the project.
  4. Business case review: The SEO DE Project Panel will review each business case and recommend changes if required.
  5. Project execution: After project approval the project is implemented within the agreed timescales.
  6. Final report: The value of the project is calculated and included in the final report. This is presented to the SEO DE Project Panel. There are a few supporting sub-processes.
  7. Site support:  The DE Project process aims to empower the site team to support the participant throughout all project’s phases.
